Introduction

The Regional Meteorological Office at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (SAAS) International Airport in Subang is a Class I Meteorological Office. It operates 24 hours a day and 365 days in a year. It provides a comprehensive range of aeronautical meteorological services in accordance with the provisions of Annex 3 to the Convention of International Meteorological Practices - Regional Supplementary Procedures. It is manned by a total of 30 staff.

Functions

This Office is responsible for providing a comprehensive range of meteorological services tailored for aviation needs for flight originating from SAAS Airport. As a dependent regional meteorological office, it receives most of the aviation meteorological products from the main Meteorological Office in KLIA via the Aviation Breifing Terminal (ABT) or fax.

Services

Full meteorological documentation and briefing for all international and domestic flights operating out of the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah International Airport.
Terminal Aerodrome Forecast (TAF) at six hourly intervals and valid for 24 hours.
Significant weather and prognostic wind charts at fixed intervals.
Aerodrome warnings of significant meteorological parameters crucial for aircraft safety whenever necessary.
SIGMET (Significant Meteorological Events) warnings for the Kuala Lumpur FIR for specific meteorological parameters crucial for aircraft safety.
Meteorological Information for ATS (Air Traffic Service)
Tropical Storm and volcanic ash advisories and warnings.
Forecast of lowest QNH for Kuala Lumpur FIR.
