The Consultant from Japan Meteorological Agency, Mr. Yoshio Shimazu, visited the Project Center in July to discuss on the work of the Project. During his visit, he met and discussed with the Project Team concerning data types, formats, accuracy of submitted data, quality checking procedures and development of software for climate application.
7-8 August 2001
The Focal Persons from each ASEAN countries had a meeting at the Malaysian Meteorological Service from 7-8 August 2001. At the Meeting, the Focal Persons presented the conditions of their climate data with respect to their reliability, periods & formats of storage, and availability for submission to the Project Center.
The Meeting decided on types of climate variables that would be stored in the updating exercise. A format/table designed for submission of data together with levels of accuracy required for each variable were recommended by the Project Team. Daily values of the meteorological variables would be submitted to the Project Center from which monthly data would be derived.
A work schedule for the Project was agreed upon at the Meeting. The number of stations involved in the Project in each country would be divided in 4 equal groups. The dates for submissions of data for the groups would be as follows:

Quality checking of the data by
the Data Center and verification by each country were expected to complete by 31
August 2002. The whole database
was expected to ready by 31 Dec 2002.
The year of 2003 would be devoted to developing the climate application software package.

Second Focal Persons’ Meeting on the “Updating of the ASEAN Compendium of
Climatic Statistics” Project
was held in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia from 24 – 25 June 2003.

The Regional Training Workshop of the ASEAN Sub-Committee on
Meteorology and Geophysics (ASCMG) project on Updating of the ASEAN
Compendium of Climatic Statistics was held at the Malaysian
Meteorological Service Headquarters in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia from 26
to 28 February 2004.
